How we work

Five stages. No stage skipped, no stage invented later.

The same process runs a two-day training engagement and a twelve-month platform programme. What changes is depth, not sequence — because the failures we see in other people’s projects almost always trace back to a stage somebody skipped.

Discover

We listen before we propose.

A structured conversation about your objectives, constraints, systems and people. We review what you already have, interview the staff who use it daily, and agree what success looks like in numbers.

  • Discovery workshop
  • Current-state assessment
  • Agreed success criteria
02 Week 1–2

Diagnose

We tell you what we found — including what you should not spend on.

A written diagnosis of the gaps, risks and opportunities, ranked by return. Where something is not worth doing, we say so. You get a costed recommendation, not a menu.

  • Diagnostic report
  • Prioritised opportunity list
  • Costed recommendation
03 Week 2–4

Design

Architecture, scope and a plan you can hold us to.

Technical architecture, data model, UX flows, project plan, milestones and acceptance criteria. Everything is documented and signed off before build begins, so scope changes are decisions rather than surprises.

  • Architecture & data model
  • UX flows and wireframes
  • Milestone plan & acceptance criteria
04 Week 4–12+

Deliver

Weekly demos, nothing hidden.

Iterative delivery in short cycles with a demo at the end of every week. You see working software early, test it with real users, and change direction while it is still cheap to do so.

  • Weekly working demos
  • Tested, documented build
  • User acceptance sign-off
05 Ongoing

Sustain

Launch is the start of the work, not the end of it.

Training, documentation, monitoring, support SLA and a quarterly review of what the system is actually delivering. We also plan your exit — handover to your internal team is a normal, supported outcome.

  • Staff training & documentation
  • Monitoring & support SLA
  • Quarterly performance review
Operating principles

Six commitments we can be held to

These are not values on a wall. Each one describes a specific behaviour you can call us out on.

You see working software weekly

Not status slides — the thing itself, running. If a week produced nothing demonstrable, you hear that immediately rather than at the next milestone.

We say no when it is the right answer

Where a request is not worth doing, or not worth doing now, we say so in writing with the reasoning. Our diagnosis lists what you should not spend on.

Everything is written down before build

Scope, architecture, milestones and acceptance criteria are documented and signed off. Scope changes afterwards become decisions with a price, not surprises.

The same people stay accountable

You meet the team at kick-off and they stay through handover. We do not rotate staff mid-build or hand you to a different team after the sale.

You own everything, on final payment

Source code, credentials, documentation and deployment access. Handover to your internal team is a supported outcome we plan for, not a loss we resist.

We measure against a baseline we captured

Numbers in our case studies are compared to a baseline taken during discovery, not to a target chosen afterwards to flatter the result.

Your side of it

Projects succeed when three things are true on your side.

We can carry the technical load, but no supplier can substitute for these. Where a project has struggled, it was almost always one of them.

  • One decision-maker who can say yes. Committees can advise; someone has to decide, or every milestone slips while consensus is chased.
  • Access to the people who do the work daily. An hour with the staff who use a process teaches more than a week of requirements documents written away from it.
  • Honesty about constraints. Budget, deadline, politics, existing contracts. We plan around real constraints; invented ones produce plans that fail on contact.

Stage one is a conversation, not a commitment.

Discovery is free and produces something useful whether or not you engage us further: a clear view of what is actually wrong and what it would cost to fix.
