Consolidating group IT across multiple operating companies

The challenge

Every company in the group had solved the same problems differently and paid separately for doing it. There was no group-wide view of spend, no consistent backup standard, no common access policy, and security risk accumulated quietly in whichever entity nobody was watching.

What we did

We worked through this in stages, starting with what had to be true before anything else could be built.

1. Audited the full estate across every operating company: assets, licences, services, spend and access.
2. Consolidated infrastructure onto shared cloud tenancy with per-company isolation and group-level visibility.
3. Standardised backup, patching, access control and endpoint configuration across all entities.
4. Established one support function with a single escalation path and a group technology review each quarter.

The result

Measured against the baseline captured during discovery, not against a target chosen afterwards.
